Our Approach
Our approach is the sum total of the experiences of all the professionals on our staff. We have all been touched by special people and mentors throughout our careers and we have pooled our best collective experiences to develop an approach unique to The Shoreline Therapy Center.
Over our years of providing therapy to clients, we have found that this approach allows us to develop a comfort zone with our clients which leads to better therapy and a more rapid approach to solutions and/or functional independence.
Systems Based Approach
Everyone lives within a system encompassing their families, their friends, their significant others, their workmates and others. Our therapy explicitly acknowledges this truism by understanding the system in which the client lives and how they interact within the system. Consequently, we are open to bringing in key members of their system as deemed necessary.
Team Based Approach
We approach everything as a team. Although a client may work with an individual therapist, we collaborate as a team, cross-pollinating perspectives to allow the therapist to approach the client’s issues from a multiplicity of viewpoints. Each of our therapists receives clinical supervision from senior members of our staff to assure that the best possible care is given.
Goodness of Fit
The most critical aspect of any type of therapy is the fit and comfort level between client and therapist. Upon first working with The Center, a client will meet with our admissions team who will get to know them and provide an assessment leading to matching that person with a clinician who has the experience and personality to work effectively with them.
Coordinated Care
Working closely as a team, our therapists are particularly adept at coordinating collaborative care. We are an “open system” and will also coordinate with clinicians outside of The Center (pediatricians, general practitioners, psychotherapists, etc.)
Guided vs. Directive Therapy
Our therapists employ different approaches to therapy. Some utilize a more guided approach where their clients are guided through a journey of self-discovery and other employ a more directed approach, leading their client through problem-solving exercises up to an ultimate solution(s).
Quality Assurance
Quality assurance is foundational to the way we operate. Our team approach assures that every client’s case is discussed with all members of our team, particularly our senior members. We continually find that examining a client’s progress from different lenses across our team of therapists and coaches leads to a more comprehensive approach, increasing the breadth and quality of their therapy.
