Reunification Therapy
Reunification therapy aims to restore relationships between parents and children, often after a traumatic event such as divorce, abuse, or neglect. Reunification therapy can be initiated by a family member in a voluntary manner, or mandated by a court system involuntarily. The goal is to re-establish the connection between members of the family, specifically the separated individual.
During this treatment, therapists might explore topics of alienation, custody, and family dynamics with the members of the family system. Shoreline Therapy Center aims to pair each family member with a therapist for individual counseling simultaneous to the reunification work. This ensures that each individual has a safe place to reflect and grow during the process and is engaging in their own growth alongside the family system.
Our clinicians might engage in collaboration and communication with clients’ attorneys and if applicable, guardian ad litem. During the reunification process, the court may ask for testimony from the therapist, or assistance in providing supervised visits for involved family members. Our team of experienced clinicians can attend and provide updates to the courts when necessary.
